Rating: ****

Nobody tells Mary Margaret O'Hara what to do. Miss America, the 1988 debut album that exposed her unique talents to the world, is still being mentioned as one of the most exciting discs of the past few decades, but all the king's horses couldn't get O'Hara to make another. Aside from a Christmas EP, all her subsequent recording has been done on other people's albums, or for Canadian feature films.

Apartment Hunting is the soundtrack recording for Bill Robertson's romantic comedy, which had a brief run in theatres last summer. Almost all the music was written and performed by O'Hara, who only recently agreed to let her work stand apart from the film.
